FRA urges caution as heavy rain causes road closures in the Western Division

The Fiji Roads Authority are calling on Fijians living in the Western Division to take extra precautions and refrain from crossing flooded streams and low-level crossings that are currently under flood waters.

While contacting FRA this morning, FRA Manager Communications and Public Relations Ashneel Singh told fijivillage News that several roads in the Western Division are currently closed due to flooding caused by heavy rain.

Singh also confirmed that these roads are currently closed, Vunaniu crossing, Nacilau Rd, Lautoka, 1st Culvert Cover washout at Nacilau Rd, Lautoka, Nacilau crossing have been washout and closed to traffic, Matawalu Rd, Lautoka, the first 100m is underwater and closed to traffic, Moto Rd, Ba, Kings to Vuda St junction is underwater and closed to traffic, Kings Rd, Ba Bridge Town Service Station Frontage is still underwater. closed to traffic, Maururu Rd, Ba crossing underwater and closed to traffic, Nasolo bridge is underwater and closed to traffic, from Vuda St junction towards Kings Rd is underwater and closed to traffic, Vuda St, Ba and half the road to Namosau Rd, Ba is still underwater.

The Ba Bridge is currently underwater and closed to traffic, Elevuka St, Ba, King's junction to Ba Town is still underwater, Wailailai flats on Ba Main St junction to Wailailai Bridge is still underwater and closed to traffic, Narara Rd, Rakiraki, first crossing still under water closed to all traffic, Korotale Valley Rd, Rakiraki, Drana crossing and Rakiraki to Waimari junction is still closed to all traffic, Korotale road junction, the water level rising in Korotale Valley Rd and LTA frontage.

Wainibuka Crossing is currently closed to all traffic.

FRA is advising Fijians in the Western Division that more rain is expected to affect the country.

The Fiji National Disaster Management Office is also advising members of the public residing in low-lying and flood-prone areas in the West to be on high alert and remain vigilant.
