Unemployed men and women of Yavusa Sagunu in the village of Nailaga in Ba are expected to get employment opportunities after they were part of a project that will showcase their skills under the FNU’s National Training and Productivity Centre and TVET Pasifika training programmes.

Through the Yavusa Sagunu generosity, they allowed the Fiji National University to establish their school on their land and enable them to provide tertiary education to the people of Ba.

Following the presentation of the i-sevusevu and i-vakavinavinaka to the Turaga-Ni-Yavusa Sagunu earlier this year, the Director of Capital Projects and Infrastructure at the FNU, Niranjwan Chettiar, says a successful partnership and collaboration are ingredients to success in any venture like this.

He says the project would enhance the partnership between FNU, the community and the contracted company that is Urban Building Solutions.

He adds that the FNU-engaged contractor has also sought blessings and support from the Turaga-Ni-Yavusa before commencing the fencing works at Lot 2 of FNU’s property.

Chettiar says the FNU’s Division of Capital Projects and Infrastructure have further enhanced the partnership to allow workers from the village to showcase their skills and engage the community in its development works.

Urban Building Solutions Operations Director Navneel Prasad says he is grateful for the partnership with the FNU and Nailaga Village which will also enable unemployed men and women of the Yavusa Sagunu to gain the necessary life skills that will benefit the village in years to come.
