The FMF Inter-District Championship is more than soccer; it is culture, it is rivalry and unity, heartbreak and joy.

These were the words of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Professor Biman Prasad as he officially opened the 2025 FMF IDC at the 4R Stadium in Ba.

He emphasised that the tournament is deeply ingrained in Fiji’s national identity, bringing together Fijians from all walks of life.

He says the roar of the crowd, the beat of the drums, and the chants echoing across the stadium remind us that soccer is the people’s game.

Professor Prasad says the National Development Plan 2025-2029 and
Vision 2050 places sports alongside education and health as a
cornerstone of community development.

He says through the NDP, we are not only investing in elite facilities but also ensuring that grassroots players have access to fields, training, and pathways to reach their full potential.

He urged players to compete with courage and fairness, and to remember the pride they carry for their districts.

He thanked coaches, referees, and volunteers who work tirelessly behind the scenes, and reminded fans that their passion should be matched with respect.
