FICAC presents evidence from LTA Soft stating Prakash used Lot 1 Omkar Road, Narere in his driver’s licence renewal application

The Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption today presented in the High Court of Anti-Corruption Division screenshots of former FijiFirst MP Vijendra Prakash's licence renewal from the Land Transport Authority Soft highlighting that Prakash used Lot 1 Omkar Road, Narere when applying to renew his driver's licence.

FICAC has charged Prakash with one count each of false information to a public servant and obtaining financial advantage.

Prakash is alleged to have falsely stated that his permanent place of residence was in Waidracia, Vunidawa, Nabuni, Naluwai, and Naitasiri, and allegedly obtained $33,670 between August 2019 and March 2020.

The FICAC Counsel had called in Margret Grey Raleqe as their witness to present evidence in the case.

Raleqe, who is employed as an LTA Compliance Officer, told the High Court that the screenshots are from their software known as LTA Soft and she has authority to view the documents.

According to the screenshots, Prakash used Lot 1, Omkar Road, Narere in both of his driver's licence renewal applications on the 19th of February, 2019 and the 6th of February, 2020, respectively.

When defence lawyer, Siddharth Nandan questioned Raleqe if a client can use any of their residential addresses, Raleqe responded that it still meets the requirements as the residential details are used for point of contact.

The case will continue at 2.15pm today.
