Acting Supervisor of Elections Ana Mataiciwa

Acting Supervisor of Elections Ana Mataiciwa confirms that the Fijian Elections Office will be reviewing the Electoral Act.

She says after the 2022 General Elections review and stakeholder consultations, it has been noted that some provisions are still restrictive to stakeholders.

Mataiciwa says they will also consult stakeholders to help them in reviewing and amending laws that are practical for the next general elections.

When asked when will this start and if the review of the Electoral Act will also include the powers given to the Supervisor of Elections, Mataiciwa confirms that it will happen this year and the whole Electoral Act will be reviewed.
