The Fijian Elections Office is conducting a 2-day Electronic Voter Registration training to up-skill staff knowledge and disseminate accurate information to members of the public.

While officiating at the opening of the training, FEO Director Corporate Services Sanjeshwar Ram says good customer service is crucial for their work and it is important to give the right information to members of the public who seek their assistance as well as obtain information from the public.

He says given the important role the voter service centres play, it is vital that the staff know and understand the services offered at the various centres.

Ram says the main services provided at the voter services centres are conducting new registration for eligible voters, updating or correcting details of existing voters and replacing lost voter cards whereby, if a voter wishes to have his or her voter card replaced, have their personal information changed or even have a new card done, they must get the right information and enter it accordingly.

The Director is urging the staff to be thorough and cautious at all times and not leave any room for mistakes so that they are better equipped and gain knowledge in providing voter services at the centers in Suva.

The 2-day training is being attended by 8 participants which ensures that staff are refreshed with current procedures and are up-skilled with new ones.

The training includes modules on customer etiquette and handling customer complaints for new voter registration staff which will end today.
