Methodist Church in Fiji General Secretary Reverend Dr. Semisi Turagavou says the extramarital affairs of their Ministers is an urgent issue that will need to be addressed quickly.

Speaking to the media after being elected as the new President, Rev. Turagavou says they are going to discuss this issue on Thursday and Friday during their Annual General Meeting, especially with those who are serving in circuits and divisions.

He says they will need to discuss it openly and freely to find out a solution.

When questioned if Ministers will be removed if found to be involved in extramarital affairs, the General Secretary says they will deal with those involved according to the Church’s Code of Conduct guidelines and regulations.

Rev Turagavou says the Church also has a Social Services and Precinct Citizenship Committee that engages with the Government and stakeholders in addressing social issues such as teenage pregnancy, drug use by youths, street kids and others.

He adds the Church is also engaging itself in finding other problems to solve with other stakeholders and the Government.

Around 400 ministers from the 59 divisions are attending the Methodist Church Conference at Furnival Park in Toorak, Suva.
