Expect a lot more traffic than usual when travelling along Ratu Mara Road as a sinkhole has opened up at the Ratu Mara Road and Cunningham Junction.

Fiji Roads Authority says drivers should drive with care when passing through this area, and to observe the speed limits at all times.

A burst Water Authority of Fiji sewerage pipe caused the sinkhole.

FRA CEO Kamal Prasad says repair works are expected to begin this afternoon and finish by Monday night.

He says WAF will need to take CCTV footage of the pipes to ascertain the extent of damage tonight.

Kamal says work cannot start as they will also need 8 bailing truck for the sewage which will only be available until this afernoon.

He adds they are getting the bailing trucks from the Western Division.
