The i-Taukei Land Trust Board is urging tenants with outstanding payments to settle their payment immediately, as part of this initiative, eight court orders for eviction have already been secured.

They say failure to settle payments will result in court action, which may lead to disconnection of utilities or repossession of land titles.

TLTB further says they have a firm stance on ensuring landowners receive their rightful dues.

They say over the past two months they have strengthened their rent collection strategies and will continue to do so, including legal action against defaulters.

TLTB announced that it has reduced rent arrears by 11.2 percent, lowering outstanding payments from $31.7 million on January 1st to $28.1 million by the end of February, achieving a total reduction of $3.5 million.

The number of tenants in arrears has also dropped from 29,133 to 25,444 as the result of intensified collection efforts.

TLTB add that this applies to all lease categories such as agriculture, residential, industrial, commercial and special leases.

They are reminding tenants that rent payments are due on the 1st January and the 1st of July every year.
