Acting Minister for Trade, Cooperatives, SMEs and Communications, Filimoni Vosarogo chats with Permanent Secretary, Shaheen Ali

The creativity and innovation that entrepreneurs bring to economies are indispensable for growth and progress in an increasingly digital-obsessed and fast-paced world.

While officiating at the Pacific Islands Entrepreneurship Expo at the Grand Pacific Hotel, Acting Minister for Trade, Cooperatives, SMEs and Communications, Filimoni Vosarogo highlighted that entrepreneurship is critical to driving economic growth, job creation and sustainable development in our region.

He says the expo aims to not only bring entrepreneurs of the region together to discuss some of these ideas but also connect them to policy makers and development agencies that stand ready to help them realise their full potential.

He says while there are various challenges that entrepreneurs in the region need support with, including access to finance, access to information, mentor-ship, training, ease of doing business and a favorable regulatory framework, the expo will help entrepreneurs to be in a better position to take advantage of some of the opportunities available to them by the expertise and share experiences to address their issues.

Vosarogo says the government is committed to creating an enabling environment for our entrepreneurs by improving the ease of doing business rankings and boosting access to markets.

The Assistant Minister further says the expo will raise public awareness in the region for career choice, improving visibility and access to finance, decision-making, providing networking opportunities and providing practical tools and information to skilled entrepreneurs.
