Their enhanced skills and knowledge would significantly contribute to the field of disaster management and establish a strong foundation for future achievements.

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka stated this during the National Emergency Response Team graduation after the intensive week-long training and rigorous simulation exercises. Rabuka says vulnerability of Pacific’s region due to severe weather conditions driven by the changing climate patterns has increased.

He acknowledged the support of the neighboring countries after disasters and the National Disaster Management Office for deploying emergency response team during the need.

The Prime Minister says the government is dedicated to provide support during domestic and international disaster response efforts.

He further says he is optimistic that the disaster response will enhance Fiji's capacity to coordinate efforts locally and provide improved support to neighboring Pacific nations and to build a stronger and more resilient community.

35 Civil Servants from 19 government ministries took part in the week-long training held at the Waterfront Hotel in Lautoka.
