Warrant Officer, Ivamere Kanawale.

Warrant Officer, Ivamere Kanawale could not put her emotions into words after receiving 50th Anniversary of Independence Commemorative medal from the President Jioji Konrote.

Kanawale who was part of the first batch of women to be recruited in the RFMF in 1988 says she is proud and honoured to be receiving this special honour.

She says her 32 years of service has been full of challenges and has thanked the RFMF for recognising her service and honouring her.

Kanawale who is from Viria in Naitasiri says working in a male dominated environment has strengthened her to become confident and a vocal woman.

Kanawale was one of the 129 officers of the RFMF and ex-servicemen and women who were given the Fiji50 Commemorative Medal at the Queen Elizabeth Barracks.
