Good news for the five Parametric Insurance recipients in Fiji, who have received their certificates and payouts at the Grand Pacific Hotel.

A single mother of six, Emily Qio from Lautoka says her small business is now running, allowing her to support her six children along with her seven grandchildren.

Qio also provides shelter for the homeless and street children at her home.

She says despite the financial struggles she has faced, she took the initiative to create opportunities so she can provide for her family.

She adds the payout she received from Parametric Insurance will help further grow her business.

Reserve Bank of Fiji Governor, Ariff Ali says Parametric Insurance has emerged as a very important tool in the country’s resilience strategy.

Ali says this type of insurance provides quicker, predetermined payouts based on specific indicators, such as wind speed or rainfall thresholds being met.

He adds this reliability is crucial for communities that need to rebuild quickly after a disaster.

The RBF Governor says Parametric Insurance continues to demonstrate its value through its simplicity, transparency, and efficiency.
