Emergency medical teams deployed in Cakaudrove Province

Fiji Emergency Medical Assessment Teams are currently visiting the Cakaudrove Province to provide health services to the villages.

Health Minister, Dr Ifereimi Waqainabete says the teams consists of a doctor, health inspector, dietitian and a nurse and they are carrying all necessary medical equipment.

Waqainabete adds the cost of damages sustained in hospitals and health centres in the Northern Division is around $2.5 million.

He says some maintenance works have started in these areas.

Waqainabete says the Savusavu Hospital, Lekutu Health Centre and Kia Nursing station also sustained damages.

He says the Republic of Fiji Military Forces personnel helped in putting up parts of the wall and sanitized the Kia Nursing station to ensure services continues for the villagers.
