The Election Security Advisory Group today, marked a significant milestone with the official signing of its Terms of Reference, formalising the framework for enhanced coordination and collaboration among Fiji’s key security and electoral institutions.

The Fijian Elections Office says this signing emphasises the shared commitment of all parties to safeguard the integrity, security, and smooth conduct of electoral processes in Fiji.

They say the Election Security Advisory Group provides a coordinated platform to address security challenges, mitigate risks, and ensure public confidence in the electoral system.

Supervisor of Elections, Ana Mataiciwa emphasised the importance of strong inter-agency partnerships stressing the signing of the Terms of Reference is more than a formality; it is a collective pledge to the people of Fiji that their elections will be conducted in a secure and trustworthy environment.

Mataiciwa says through Election Security Advisory Group, they strengthen their cooperation and readiness to ensure free, fair, and credible elections.

The Commander RFMF, Commissioner of Police, and Manager Investigations FICAC echoed the importance of the initiative, highlighting that the ESAG will serve as a central mechanism for operational preparedness, information sharing, and joint responses to electoral security matters.

The Fijian Elections Office, as Secretariat to the ESAG, will continue to facilitate meetings, provide technical support, and coordinate activities in line with the ToR. The ESAG is a critical pillar in ensuring that the voices of Fijians are protected through a safe and secure electoral environment.

The Terms of Reference was signed by the Commander of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces, the Commissioner of Police, the Manager Investigations of the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) on behalf of the Acting Commissioner of FICAC, and the Supervisor of Elections.
