Minister for Local Government Premila Kumar.

Minister for Local Government, Premila Kumar says our elders play a pivotal role in imparting religious knowledge and values to children at home and our religious organisations are contributing to education in Fiji.

While speaking during the Diwali celebrations organized by the Senior Citizen Charitable Trust at the Nadi Civic Centre, Kumar says all religious festivals have a common message and this must be inculcated in our youths.

Kumar further says if we do not explain the values and significance to the youths, then we will not only fail in our responsibilities but will contribute to the moral decay of our religious teachings.

The Minister adds the Fijian constitution guarantees every Fijian the right to practice their religion freely without any discrimination.
