An elderly woman in her late 70s has died following a house fire along Lakena Irrigation Road in Nausori last night.
Police say the victim was alone at home when the fire is believed to have started from the kitchen.
She was trapped inside and could not escape.
Her body was later recovered from the scene and taken to the Mokani Health Centre Mortuary.
A joint investigation between the Police and the National Fire Authority is underway to determine the exact cause of the fire.
