The education sector needs to be transformed completely and the Fijian Government aims to ensure education is made relevant, agile and student friendly.

This has been highlighted by the Minister for Education, Premila Kumar, while speaking at the launch of the Education Sector Plan development programme.

Kumar says a thorough analysis of the education sector will be carried out to develop the Plan for the next 10 years.

She says it is important to make the education fit for purpose for students, employers, communities and the future of the nation.

She says they will make bold and necessary changes so that students develop critical thinking, social skills, and problem-solving skills.

Kumar says there will be a nationwide consultation to develop the Plan as they want to ensure the ownership of the plan is with the people.

The Minister adds that Fiji has become a member of the Global Partnership for Education and has secured USD$587,879 to develop this Plan.
