Former Fiji U19, U21, and United States 7s and 15s rugby player and an Oxford University graduate Adriu Durutalo has joined the Ba Rugby Union Executive Committee to share his experience and expertise in rugby development, high performance, and governance to improve rugby in the province.

The former Suva Grammar School student who hails from Bukuya in Ba grew up in Suva.

Durutalo says he moved to Japan in 2011 to study Business Administration at Hakuoh University and later played for the Japanese Super Rugby franchise the Sunwolves and the Worcester Warriors in England.

He also represented the USA Eagles at the 2013 Rugby 7s World Cup, the 2015 Rugby World Cup in England, and the 2016 Rio Olympics, earning 22 test caps.

Durutalo has an MBA from Oxford University and has led high-performance rugby programs in Japan, England, and the United States.

He currently works for the US Olympic Committee in business innovation.

Ba Rugby Union Secretary Gaby Kautoga says Durutalo has a ridiculous resume, and it shows how Fijians can excel when in the right environment.

Durutalo says he hopes to move back to Fiji in the future and contribute to grassroots rugby through the Ba Rugby Union.
