Police Commissioner Rusiate Tudravu has called on police officers to fully commit to their calling to serve.
In his Easter message, Tudravu says policing requires the ultimate sacrifice, similar to core Christian beliefs of Jesus Christ’s death and resurrection.

He says police officers are expected to dedicate themselves to a life of service, urging self-reflection on their purpose and whether it has remained steadfast or wavered in the face of temptations.
Police Force Chaplain Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Joeli Mawi shared the importance of humility during his sermon, particularly in difficult times faced by the organisation.
Rev. Mawi says officers can draw parallels in the power of forgiveness, noting that during times of pain and suffering, Jesus demonstrated mercy, forgiveness and compassion. He adds that Jesus’ selfless suffering for humanity is a reminder that police officers need to be strong-willed and persevere for the sake of serving others.
Also attending the Easter service were recruits, officers from the New Zealand Police, and participants of the Pacific Law Enforcement Cooperation (PCLEC) regional Social Media Development training from the Tonga Police and Samoa Police, Prisons and Corrections Service.
