Dubai 7s: Black Ferns break six year drought

The Black Ferns 7s team have ended the Aussies hopes of winning a sixth consecutive Dubai 7s title after beating them 22-7, also ending the 36 wins in a row Australia has in Dubai.

The last time New Zealand won was back in 2020.

New Zealand starved the Australian side of the ball as they ran it wide, also isolating speedster Maddison Levi.

The Black Ferns tries came from veteran Stacey Waaka, Kelsey Teneti, Risi Pouri-Lane and player of the final Jorja Miller.

Heidi Dennis scored both tries for the Aussies but it was too little too late.

The Men's Cup Final is another trans Tasman rivalry as New Zealand meet Australia.
