Dragons set to make multi million-dollar play for Panthers star

St George Illawarra Dragons coach Anthony Griffin is poised to make a play for Panthers superstar Viliame Kikau in a move that would be a bitter blow for his old club who sacked him in 2018.

The Australian reports the Dragons are monitoring Kikau’s situation as he enters the final year of his deal at Penrith and could table a multi million-dollar deal to the back-rower.

Kikau has scored 28 tries in 90 games for the Panthers since his debut in 2017 and is off-contract at the end of the 2022 season.

The Panthers are reportedly aware of the Dragons’ interest in Kikau as they face a fight on their hands to sign three other off-contract stars including Dylan Edwards, Api Koroisau and Moses Leota.

The club is scrambling to keep its side together after handing a monster deal to Nathan Cleary and prop James Fisher-Harris while Jarome Luai, Isaah Yeo and Stephen Crichton have extended their contracts.
