Former National Adviser for Non-Communicable Disease and Head of National Wellness Centre, Doctor Isimeli Tukana

Former National Adviser for Non-Communicable Disease and Head of National Wellness Centre, Doctor Isimeli Tukana has passed away.

University of Fiji confirms Dr. Tukana passed away earlier today after a short illness.

They say Dr. Tukana joined the University in January this year as Director of the University's new Bachelor of Medical Health Science Programme.

The University says as a long-standing advocate of public health and preventative healthcare, Dr Tukana was well qualified and experienced to lecture in the innovative programme that is defined as pre-med.

UniFiji has extended its sincere condolences to Dr Tukana’s family for their loss.

They say despite the short period of time that Dr Tukana had been with them, he had made many friends and was highly regarded by his colleagues.

UniFiji says they will miss his beautiful smile and gentle personality.
