Discussions expected on TELS loans and scholarships

Cabinet met with the CEO of the Tertiary Scholarships and Loans Service, Doctor Hasmukh Lal and Permanent Secretary for Education, Doctor Anjeela Jokhan today.

Doctor Lal and Doctor Jokhan arrived at the Prime Minister’s Office earlier today however they left after about one hour.

They returned for the meeting later in the day.

It is understood that cabinet is discussing the issues regarding the writing off of the TELS loans totalling more than $500 million, and scholarships for students that have received a confirmed entry into a selected university course.
