President Wiliame Katonivere has encouraged the wards of homes not to lose hope but to face the challenges of life.

He highlighted this during his visit to the Dilkusha Home in Nausori, Saint Christopher’s Home, the Homes of Hope in Wailoku, Saint Philomena Home in Nailuva and the Frank Hilton Organisation Hostel in Suva.

The president says there will always be challenges but if we look at it as a mystery and with the faith that we have, we will excel to be the best.

He says education is the key and with the support of the Christian denominations that run the home, the children will also get the best that is there to offer.

Ratu Wiliame also encourages relatives of children in the homes and at the Frank Hilton Organisation to have a heart for their relatives at the hostel and visit them.

Meanwhile, the Permanent Secretary for Women, Children, and Poverty Alleviation, Ashwin Raj, acknowledged the good Samaritans who always lend a helping hand to homes and children.

Raj says the Ministry will continue to work with the homes to make sure that they continue to be safe spaces and consistent with human dignity.
