Doctor Eci Naisele, the new Director of Higher Education Commission of Fiji has been welcomed in high spirits by staff members and other members of the educational sector in Fiji.

While making the announcement, Chair of the Higher Education Commission Fiji, Steve Chand emphasized that this appointment goes beyond a routine administrative process, describing it as a strategic move to shape the future of higher education in Fiji.

He says they are entrusting Dr. Naisele with the responsibility to lead the Commission towards a vision of excellence, inclusivity, and innovation — aligning the educational goals with national development priorities and global standards.

Chand stresses the future of the higher education of Fiji depends on people’s shared efforts and it is only through unity, innovation and strategic thinking that we can truly deliver the outcome our students and community deserves.

Dr. Naisele brings over 30 years of experience in the education sector, with a distinguished career that spans from classroom teaching to senior leadership roles within the Ministry of Education and the FHEC.

His deep familiarity with Fiji’s educational landscape uniquely positions him to guide the Commission through its next chapter of development.

Dr.Naisele has officially assumed his new role on May 5th 2025, following the completion of his tenure as Registrar at the Pacific Theological College.
