Minister for Employment, Productivity and Industrial Relations, Parveen Bala says Diwali is one of the festivals that has traditionally united all Fijians through its colour, food, sweets and the celebrations around it.

While speaking at the Rakiraki Market Vendors Association’s Diwali celebrations today, Bala also acknowledged Prime Minister, Voreqe Bainimarama for his vision and commitment towards opening up our borders and livelihoods.

Bala says during this testing time, Bainimarama has committed Fiji to the Diwali message of hope and light.

He further says Fiji as a multiracial country has shown its ability to rise above injustice and division and they cannot continue in any way or form of racial or religious discrimination.

Bala adds they cannot have a Fiji divided and led by people who are now aiming to comeback to limelight by preaching hatred and division.

He says they must use the celebration to commit to the ideals of peace and love.
