The Digicel National Futsal side is ready to take on Vanuatu in the inaugural Extra Supermarket Melanesian Futsal Cup 2023, starting today at the Vodafone Arena in Suva.

National team coach Jerry Sam says the boys are ready for the challenge and have been preparing for the last four weeks.

Sam says they are taking this tournament as a build-up to the OFC Futsal Qualifiers in October and also to improve on their FIFA rankings.

He says that he has faith in their players and is sure they will do wonders for Fiji.

He adds the inclusion of Labasa rep, Edwin Sahayam and Tavua striker, Ratu Dau has boosted the team and shown their potential in futsal.

The Fiji Futsal side takes on Vanuatu this hour followed by the Solomon Islands vs New Caledonia match at 7pm.

Meanwhile, team captain Filipe Baravilala says they had prepared well for the tournament and are ready to take each game as it comes.
