Permanent Secretary for Environment, Joshua Wycliffe

Permanent Secretary for Environment, Joshua Wycliffe says FMF Food Limited has been given two Prohibition Notices for allegedly discharging untreated waste water or fluids from their facility in Veisari, Lami into the storm water drains while FMF says all necessary rectifications have been made.

The Department issued notices on the 7th and 25th of March.

Wycliffe says the company accepted the Notice and has been working with the Department to take corrective measures.

He says the company has just submitted a report recording the actions taken to rectify the breaches.

The Permanent Secretary says an inspector is reviewing and working with the company and if the steps taken to rectify matches the legislative standards, then they can expect the lifting of the notice within the next business day or so.

FMF Group Marketing Manager, Amrita Priyadarshani confirms receiving the Prohibition Notice.

She says all necessary rectifications have been made post internal audit and keeping in mind their quality checks and procedures.
