Department of Immigration to focus on transitioning to digital processes to improve efficiency

The Department of Immigration will focus on how the ITC Services can support the Department, particularly by providing IT support and transitioning to digital processes to improve efficiency and service delivery.

These are some of the discussions when the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade, Co-operatives, Small and Medium Enterprises, and Communications, Manoa Kamikamica recently held a meeting with officials from the Immigration Department.

The Minister was also briefed on detailed presentations on statistics on the increasing trend of demand for immigration services, which requires high standards and reliable IT infrastructure support.

Kamikamica says there are several strategies to improve service delivery and also underscored the importance of collaboration with the ITC department to streamline and modernise departmental operations.

The meeting concluded with a strong emphasis on the potential benefits of these improvements for both the department and the wider community.

Permanent Secretary of Home Affairs and Immigration, Mason Smith and the Director of Immigration, Amelia Komaisavai were also present during the meeting.
