Torika Delai has been appointed to officiate at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Morocco 2025, becoming the second Fijian female referee in history to achieve such a distinction.

Fiji Football Association says she joins a panel of 18 referees and 36 assistant referees drawn from 36 FIFA member associations.

They say this selection is a major international endorsement of her capabilities and a testament to her sustained dedication to football officiating.

Delai follows in the footsteps of Finau Vulivuli, who made her mark at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in 2016, and was previously on panels in 2008, 2010, 2012, and 2016.

She will serve as the only referee from the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) in this elite FIFA panel, underlining both her individual excellence and regional significance.

Fiji FA confirms she will officiate alongside Allys Clipsham (Assistant Referee – New Zealand) and Natalia Lumukana (Assistant Referee – Solomon Islands)

They say this all-female, Pacific-based officiating team marks a powerful stride forward for gender representation in football across Oceania.

Fiji FA President Rajesh Patel says it’s her hard work and dedication, and they are proud of her achievement.

He adds they are sure she will make everyone proud.

Patel further says Delai’s inclusion in the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup is not just a personal triumph, but a powerful symbol of progress, representation, and opportunity in women’s football.

He says her career continues to break new ground and inspire the next generation of Pacific female referees.

Fiji FA Vice President and Women’s Football Director Nazia Ali Krishna says her selection is a milestone not just for her, but for all women in football across Fiji and Oceania.

She says this aligns with the Fiji FA Strategic Plan, which advocates for empowering women not only as players but also as referees, coaches, and administrators.

Krishna adds she is a role model for young girls across Fiji, showing that their place in football can be anywhere, including the centre of the pitch.

Earlier this year, in May 2025, Delai also officiated an international friendly between the Matildas (Australia) and Slovenia in Perth—a major international assignment that further cemented her global reputation.
