Occupational Health and Safety Inspector Ashneel Nath’s lawyer, Karl Jamnadas told the court that there were issues with the charges presented in the Magistrates Court, and that the ‘summary of facts’ provided to the accused were all over the place which was causing confusion on what the actual particulars of the allegation were against Nath.
Jamnadas also stated that the information provided by the DPP contained minimal detail.
There was no representative from the DPP present, as they were excused to attend the Director of Public Prosecutions Conference in Nadi.
Judge Justice Daniel Goundar has given the prosecution one month to provide full disclosure on the matter.
Nath, who is charged with one count of manslaughter arising from a breach of duty in relation to the death of a 21-year-old woman who fell from a ferris wheel in Suva in June 2023, has been granted bail.
The matter will be called again on 23 February 2026.
