Defeating the Hurricanes at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva is a moment that will never be forgotten by Swire Shipping Fijian Drua halfback Peni Matawalu who hopes they can continue to give fans what they deserve in this years Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific season.

Matawalu says the Hurricanes were in top form during that season, but the Drua held together and defeated them at home.

The 27-year-old, who has been with the Fijian Drua since the National Rugby Championship, says he has seen a lot of changes within the team and now, professionalism is seen in most players.

He also jokingly said that he hopes for more players from the province of Ra to join the club as he stands alone when meeting with his Tauvus from Kadavu and Nadroga.

Matawalu is urging children who wish to pursue rugby as a career to keep listening to their parents and continue to work hard.

He says people should know their purpose as this will direct them to reaching their goals.

The Fijian Drua’s opening match will be at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva, where they will host the Brumbies at 3.35pm on the 15th of February, 2025.
