Dedicated team at FEMAT and MV Veivueti save a young patient's life

A team of dedicated doctors, nurses and crew from the medical ship - MV Veivueti and Fiji Emergency Medical Assistance Team saved the life of a child in Kadavu yesterday.

Health Minister Doctor Ifereimi Waqainabete shared the story on Twitter.

He says that MV Veivueti with FEMAT led by the Surgeon Dr Save and Anaesthetist Dr Maika went down to Vunisea in Kadavu following all necessary COVID-19 protocols and retrieved and operated on the young patient before the transfer onto a helicopter..

Due to their quick action, the child was provided timely life saving help.

The Team Leader of FEMAT Pre-Hospital Emergency Retrieval Lemeki Lenoa also confirmed that they were on standby in Suva to receive the young COVID negative patient who had emergency surgery.

Permanent Secretary for Commerce, Trade, Tourism and Transport Shaheen Ali has also thanked the officers and crew of the vessel MV Veivueti, led by Captain Avorosa for not hesitating to answer the call from Health Ministry to help a child patient in distress in Kadavu.
