The Suva Grammar School U14 rugby team is through to the Vodafone Super Deans final after surviving a late comeback from Marist Brothers High School in the first semi final this morning at Buckhurst Park.

Grammar edged Marist 10-8.

The match was filled with intensity as both teams fought hard from the start to the final minutes.

Marist got first points through a penalty, but Suva Grammar responded with a try from Charlie Ligabalavu to put the Lions in a 5-3 lead at the break.

Ratu Isikeli Taubaleqalo extended Suva Grammar’s lead, scoring a fabulous try through a set piece that started from a scrum.

Apimeleki Ratulevu scored for Marist in the final minute of the match, but their fly-half could not convert the try, giving Grammar the victory.

Meanwhile, QVS is leading Lelean Memorial School 12-8 in the second U14 semi final.

Matches coming up at the HFC Bank Stadium, Sigatoka Methodist College will take on Dreketi College in the first U16 Weet-Bix Raluve semi final at 10.10am, and followed by Suva Grammar facing Lelean Memorial School in the Deans U17 semi finals at 12.40pm.
