With thousands of families celebrating Father’s Day, 30-year-old Merlyn Dayal and her sisters are planning something special to surprise their father next weekend as he is away due to work commitments.

Dayal says most of the time people talk about what their mothers have been doing for them and sometimes we tend to forget that fathers play a very crucial role in our lives.

She says fathers do not have the habit of saying I love you or I'm proud of you every day, but in their hearts, they have all the love and all support for their families no matter what.

She adds they have planned a big surprise for their father next weekend since they will also be celebrating his 60th birthday.

Fijivillage also visited Suva City and asked people on how they will be spending their Father’s Day.
