The Cure Kids Fiji500, has raised more than $150,000 for the Cure Kids Fiji Oxygen Program after circumnavigating Viti Levu.

They have surpassed their target of $100,000 for Fiji.

National Coordinator Fiji Oxygen Program Udila Nariva Tawake says the proceeds from the event will go towards the welfare of those who are looked after under their program.

Tawake says it is heartwarming to have cyclists from New Zealand and Australia commit to this cause and fund raise for the needs of children in Fiji.

Cure Kids Board Member Reuben Tucker led the 17-member team of cyclists.

Tucker says it was good to restart the event after five years because of COVID-19 that canceled their tour to Fiji for the last 4 years.

He says he wants to help develop cycling in Fiji with some local clubs and they will come back next year and hopefully involve more locals for the event.

The event which was last held in 2017 was supported by Mastercard.
