The Crest Men’s Fiji Netball team has received enormous support from the general public after defeating world champs Australia 55-54 in the Men's Netball Nations Series Grand Final in Singapore.

This is a monumental achievement for the team as it was their first international competition since 2004.

Fiji were undefeated throughout the tournament but faced a setback in the pool stages where they lost to Australia 60-48.

The team arrived in Nadi yesterday and was welcomed by family members and friends together with their sponsors.

Fiji Netball says they are thankful to their sponsors for their tremendous support in helping them secure the Merlion Netball Cup.

Josefata Cati, their goal shooter says the win means a lot for him and the players.

Cati says the win is special having to celebrate with three of his former schoolmates who all attended Marist Brothers High School.

He says he hopes to see men’s netball competitions being played at the grassroots and secondary school levels to strengthen the national team during future tournaments.
