Anushka Prasad is demanding justice and accountability after her 12-year-old cousin, Vinayak Chetty, was allegedly hit by a teacher’s speeding vehicle while using a zebra crossing outside Labasa Sangam Primary School.

18-year-old Prasad says she, Chetty, and two other cousin sisters had gone to the canteen to buy candy and were waiting to cross when one vehicle stopped to give them way.

However, while crossing, another vehicle in the other lane allegedly came at speed and struck Chetty.

She says FSC staff rushed the boy to Labasa Hospital, and he was later transferred to the CWM Hospital for further treatment.

Prasad further claims the teacher who caused the accident allegedly tried to escape the scene.

She is now calling for the teacher to be held accountable.

The 18-year-old is also calling for a hump to be installed near the school to prevent such incidents in the future.

Police are investigating the accident.

We have also sent questions to the Fiji Roads Authority.
