Counter Narcotics Bureau officer remanded in alleged drug importation case involving 6 people

Counter Narcotics Bureau officer Uraia Tiudamu Bolalailai, charged in relation to the alleged unlawful importation of more than 4 kilograms of methamphetamine, has been remanded in custody by the Nadi Magistrates Court.

Bolalailai is the second Bureau police officer charged in this case.

Another Bureau officer, Apenisa Matadigo also appeared in court with 40-year-old Viliame Nalago and 25-year-old Are Tania earlier this week for their involvement in this case.

43-year-old Fiji Airways driver Neumi Donumainasava appeared yesterday while Nigerian national Chukwuemeka Phabian appeared on Wednesday – also charged with one count of unlawful importation of illicit drugs in this case.

The matter for all 6 will be called in the Lautoka High Court on the 2nd of June.

Meanwhile, another person is in custody and is expected to be charged and appear in court of Monday.
