Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s coach Richard Walker

Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s coach Richard Walker says the unwavering support from fans and local communities continues to be a major source of motivation for the team as they prepare for the first leg of the 2025/2026 HSBC SVNS World 7s Series in Dubai this weekend.

Walker says the fan’s energy in the stadium always inspires the players to perform at their best.

He says whenever they train at Uprising, families from surrounding villages often come to watch, and the team enjoys inviting them to meet the players.

Walker adds that these community interactions are a huge morale boost, and the girls love connecting with supporters who believe in them.

The Fijiana 7s will open their Dubai campaign against the USA at 7.20pm Saturday, followed by France at 9.59pm and New Zealand at 1.27am Sunday.

The women’s semi finals begin at 9.12pm Sunday, with the final at 3.35am Monday.

Meanwhile, the Fiji Men’s 7s team take on Argentina at 9.10pm Saturday, before facing South Africa at 12.16am Sunday and France at 4.12am Sunday.

The men’s semi finals start at 10.06pm Sunday, and the final will be held at 4.11am Monday.
