It was a colourful Diwali celebration for the students and teachers of Rishikul Primary School today.

The celebration saw several dances from the students and the presentation of prizes for their Diwali competitions.

While speaking at the Diwali celebration, Permanent Secretary for Education, Heritage and Arts, Dr Anjeela Jokhan reminded the students to uphold good values in life and be good role models to others.

She says every religion teaches them to be good people and to be considerate, to love everyone and treat everyone with respect and care.

The Permanent Secretary for Education says Diwali is a celebration of the victory of good over evil and people from all religions participate in this festival.

She says this is the only country where everyone celebrates religious festivals and it is not just Diwali, it is also Easter and so on.

Jokhan also says the 2013 Fijian constitution assures every Fijian to practice the religion of their choice freely and without any restrictions.

The Fiji School of the Blind was also part of the Diwali celebrations.
