The Fiji Corrections Service has kicked off its week-long celebration marking 150 years of service with a church service and oath affirmation this morning.
Senior Communications Officer, Jona Sigavou told fijivillage News that this is the first time all 17 centres in Fiji have come together for the same church service.
Sigavou says it is a moment of reflection and renewal, reminding officers of the oath they first took when they joined the service.
He says that a Memorial Dawn Service will be held at 5am tomorrow at the Naboro Memorial Site to honour 39 fallen officers who served the Corrections Service over the years.
He adds the next of kin of the fallen officers will lay wreaths during the ceremony.
Sigavou says their Acomcors Parade and Medal Ceremony will also be held at 3pm tomorrow at Naboro.
The week-long celebration will conclude with the Commander Kean Shield match, where the Corrections team will face the National Fire Authority.
The main event, the Armed Native Constabulary Cakobau match will feature the Fiji Police Force.
