Christmas is a time for family and it is also a time to reflect on all of the lessons Jesus Christ revealed through his preaching as many the Fijians are going through tough times.

FijiFirst Party Leader and former Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama highlighted this in his Christmas message stating that our ability to face any adversity comes through our Fijian capacity of care and compassion, which everyone has inherited.

Bainimarama says Jesus died on the cross for our sins as an ultimatum expression of love for all of humanity and there is no difference between Jews and Gentiles as God’s love is unending and touches every single person on earth.

He says the story of Christmas itself embodies the spirit of standing up to those in need, the birth of Jesus Christ held as the Saviour born among the marginalised and speaking for the all.

He further says as Christians, we must abide by the example and give love and compassion to all people especially those who may be different from us.

This Christmas, Bainimarama is asking everyone to pledge to live like Christ and embody the values that he has taught us.

He also wished Fijian troops serving abroad, sacrificing festivities and times with loved ones to make the world a better place.
