Christmas Eve violent attempted robbery victim dies

60-year-old Nitya Nand who was admitted at the CWM Hospital following a violent attempted robbery in Samabula on Christmas Eve has died.

Police say the victim who had stab wounds, died on Friday last week.

Police have confirmed that an 18-year-old man allegedly entered the victim’s home and attempted to carry out a robbery and in the process used a knife to stab the victim.

The suspect, identified as Timoci Matanimeke from Lami appeared in court, charged, and is being remanded pertaining to this case.

The matter has been adjourned to the 22nd of this month.
