As the lunar calendar marks a fresh start, Chinese New Year brings hope, happiness, and the promise of prosperity.

During the vibrant celebrations at the Chinese Embassy in Fiji, Ambassador Zhou Jian highlighted the significance of this occasion in bringing families together and creating memories.

Zhou says the Chinese New Year is a time for families and friends to return to their hometowns and celebrate traditions, fostering unity and cultural connection.

He says this year's festivities also mark the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Fiji, a milestone underscoring the enduring partnership between the two nations.

He further highlighted the vital contributions of Chinese businesses to Fiji’s economy and emphasised the support provided by the Chinese community during natural disasters.

He adds that they will continue with the assistance.

More than 100 people from the Chinese community gathered at the embassy in Nasese to enjoy the celebrations.

The celebrations featured captivating dragon dances, instrumental performances and singing.
