China earns first victory at the FIFA Women's World Cup after 1-0 win over Haiti

The China Women’s side has earned its first victory in the FIFA Women's World Cup after beating Haiti 1-nil at the Hindmarsh Stadium, Adelaide.

Wang Shuang scored the lone goal for China in the second spell of the match.

Even though the Chinese Women’s side was reduced to 10 players, they had enough possession and made sure they did not give any slight opportunity to the Haiti side to equalise.

Meanwhile, England is currently leading Group D with 6 points followed by Denmark and China who both share 3 points each while Haiti is in fourth place with 0 points.

If China and Denmark win their next match respectively, both will have six points along with England after which goal differences will decide which two teams will advance to the knockout stage.

In other matches, England edged Denmark 1-nil while Argentina and South Africa were tied 2 all. [Source: BBC Sports]
