2 doctors from Australia and New Zealand are in the country to perform heart surgeries at the Sai Sanjeevani Children’s Hospital in Nasese.

Dr John Wright from Auckland’s Starship Hospital, and Children's Heart Specialist, Dr Jascha Kehr from John Huntage Hospital in Newcastle, Australia are in Fiji to perform heart surgeries.

The "Hearts 4 kids team" will be in Fiji for 5 days and they expect to perform 2 to 3 surgeries per day.

Doctor Krupali Tappoo says it is a real privilege and honor to have such an experienced team operating on the children in Fiji.

Dr Tappoo says they will continue to do screenings and outreach programs, especially for rural areas.

Doctor Wright says they are pleased to have already perform few surgeries on children who had chest problems.

Dr Wright says that a few children are very sick and the chances of living are slim without surgery.
