Chiefs look to end Crusaders’ dominance in Super Rugby Pacific final

The Chiefs will be hunting history and redemption when they face the Crusaders in the Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific final today, hoping to snap a winless streak in deciders against the Crusaders.

The Crusaders remain unbeaten in finals against the Chiefs, including a 25-20 victory in the 2023 final.

However, the Chiefs have had the upper hand in recent encounters, winning five of their last seven clashes with the Crusaders, including both games this season.

The pressure is high as the Chiefs are aiming to avoid becoming only the second team in competition history to lose three consecutive finals—a feat last seen when the Lions fell short from 2016 to 2018.

All eyes will be on All Blacks stars Will Jordan and Damian McKenzie, who are both in electric form heading into the final.

Jordan scored a double in the semi-final, while McKenzie steered the Chiefs with a 22-point win.

While they may not go head-to-head on the field, their individual brilliance and ability to ignite attacking plays will be crucial for their sides.

The Crusaders host the Chiefs at 7.05 tonight at Apollo Projects Stadium, Christchurch.
