Head of Family Health, Doctor Rachael Devi

Chemsex and Bluetoothing is a contributing factor to the increase in HIV cases in Fiji according to the Head of Family Health, Doctor Rachael Devi.

She says bluetoothing and chemsex are super dangerous and this year alone, they are noticing 85 reported HIV cases through injectable drug use.

Doctor Devi says this is 25 percent of the total cases coming out of that space, especially from one clinic.

Bluetooth is a practice where youths withdraw blood after a drug hit and inject it into a second person.

Doctor Devi says the Ministry has to dig deeper in creating awareness which is a system approach to increase the members being tested so people will know their status.

Doctor Devi says it is very encouraging to see people coming forward and getting tested because they feel they were at risk at certain stages.
